Introduction
The Savvygen™ STI UU/UP allows the qualitative detection of Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) and Ureaplasma parvum (UP), by Real- time PCR in urine or vaginal swab from symptomatic patients. The test is used as an aid in the diagnosis of Ureaplasma urealyticum and Ureaplasma parvum infections in both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals.
UU and UP are bacteria that belong to the Mycoplasmataceae family. If left untreated, infection may be associated with infertility, premature or still-birth, chorioamnionitis, non-specific urethritis, meningitis and pneumonia
The Savvygen™ STI UU/UP is part of a wider STI panel which includes the detection of MG/MH and CT/NG/TV
